The Project Car

It started like any other push slash ride-on car toy. Primary colors, lots of plastic, very bright. But we had big plans in mind for it, something with style, grace, and let's face it - something bad-ass. So we had ourselves a project car...

So, a quick tour of the project. Starting with several coats of a nice flat black paint. Because, well, bad-ass starts with a lot of flat black. LOTS of flat black. You would think these little things would be EASY to paint. Uh-uh... I believe the final tally was 19035 cans of flat black paint, specially formulated for plastics - oh, yeah!

Then Mom set to work on some pinstriping on the push handle, and on the door corners. We couldn't believe how well this turned out, your Mom may have missed her true calling of Pimping Rides.

The car starting to come together (ok I skipped about 30 steps). All black paint on, wheels on, and Mom's master work on the 'hood' incorporating a pinstripe design with a (here we go again) bad-ass 'M' for Maya.

For the dash, we couldn't just put those silly decals on - not for this ride. So you've got a custom clock, mirror, and jeweled dashboard, along with custom white 'leather' seats, again studded with jewels. Mom and Dad went ALL OUT on this one, well it does not have a turbo boost gauge OR a turbo boost button yet, but we didn't want to COMPLETELY finish the car without a little help from Maya, it IS after all a project.

So here is the 'finished' product, ready for the first test drive tomorrow morning. Metal-finish gas cap, white studded interior, custom dash, custom pinstripes, custom paint. Dad is a little horrified that it is hitting the street on its stock rims and 'tires', but we'll get that worked out very soon. Some new boots (can you buy spinners in a 4" wheel?) and rims, and about 30 cans of matte clearcoat, and you'll be ready to kick ass and scare the crap out of those little twerps in their yellow/red/blue cars, that's fo sho!
