That's what your momma wanted to do for Mother's Day. Get served up some nice breakfast, pack up the Golf, and head on down to the beach. So that's exactly what we did.
San Gregorio State Beach is not that far away, so we turned west and headed over the mountains.

Yes, momma did in fact get to fly her kite at the beach, she got it way up there all right. Yay mommy! You were pretty good at flying kites too.

You would only do it for a few seconds, then you'd throw the handle and the kite would take off down the beach. It was very exciting and as such, we don't have any pictures of The First Time You Flew A Kite. Sorry dear, we'll try to be a little faster next time.

We also noticed how much you like to chase the kite. Or at least the kite's shadow! You are a funny girl.

We took a walk in the sand, but all you really wanted to do was run straight into the waves. This is an odd thing, water. You love water. You love drinking water, especially bath water and outside water and water with soap in it. And you love waves, in so much as you would love to run straight at them as fast as you can.

So that's what you do. Mind you, the water is something like two degrees below zero. Ok, no it is maybe 55 but that is pretty darned cold and in 6 years here I've rarely been in water deeper than my ankles. Not so much today, we were both pretty wet by the time we were done.

Time to dry off and warm up. It didn't take us long to dig in, so to speak, and start working on a project to reshape a bit of the beach. Hey, hand me that shovel...

Mission accomplished! That was fun, but now it is time to hit the waves again and wash off some sand. Ahh, the waves. Very exciting for all of us, especially momma and daddy wondering if you were going to succeed in wrenching away from us and disappearing out to sea, you were quite focused on it!

Time to head home, and settle in for a nice long nap! Ok, only a week or so behind now, we've had an exciting few weekends and more on tap! So, stay tuned as usual, I'll get another post up tonight because Bay To Breakers is tomorrow so there will be no shortage of things to point a camera at.
