First Easter Egg Hunt!

This weekend we took you to your first fully-sanctioned Easter Egg hunt in Oakahpark!
From Egg Hunt

Ingrid came over with your little buddy and his Grammy, and we tried (emphasis on tried) to take a nice picture of the two of you outside.

Then it was off to the Ridgeland Commons for the hunt. This was really a trip and a half. Imagine an ice rink, but covered with astro-turf with some kid-friendly 'obstacles' strewn about, and what seemed like 6 1/2 tons of candy and Easter eggs. Maybe 7 tons.

We got set up and strategized how to best complete our mission. What we decided was, as soon as they said 'go' we'd jump over the barrier, and start picking up candy!

It was really something. You and Gabriel went to town, kind of slowly but still amassing a significant amount of candy. If I had video of this, it would have to have 'Flight of the Bumblebee' as a soundtrack. 200 kids, all 3 and 4 years old, running around like mad picking up candy. Wow, impressive sight. I thought it would take a while, but you kids stripped the course clean in a matter of minutes.

You were amazingly diligent, even making sure to pick up some Sweet Tarts "for mom!", and lots and lots and LOTS of chocolate eggs "for Maya". And some little toys, stickers, etc. But mostly chocolate eggs. After a few minutes, you would put your basket on the ground, insuring you had both hands available for the gathering of the eggs:

After the floor was stripped clean (again, taking no more than 10 minutes!) they cleared the course, opened a giant garage door, and streamed everyone out of there, past the Easter Bunny. It was only a quick visit, but you gave him a high-five and got a nice hug from him. I think you had a pretty good time!

It was a fun event and, even though it was over in a few minutes, something we'll remember for some time. After that we headed to Kane County to a flea market. Busy day. But we're glad you got the chance to hunt for eggs, and were glad you had so much success! Hope you had as much fun as we did! :)
