You are really *not* supposed to blow the candles out on someone else's birthday cake, but here you are regardless, caught in the act so to speak.
Luckily, she thought it was hilarious. And honestly, so did we, but you gotta chill out just the slightest bit when it comes to OPC's (Other People's Candles)...
While we're at it, you have this book - Inspector Rockfort and the Missing Treasure - and it has to be your most favorite book to date. Thing is, the book has very few words, it is a puzzle/findme book with insanely lavish illustrations. There has been a theft at the museum and Inspector Rockfort and his sidekick go door to door down the street to interview shopkeepers and find clues.
The puzzle theme been explored somewhat, but you have completely discarded it. You insist on reading through the book (3-10 times per day at the moment) as if we were on the street having a mad shopping spree. You go into each shop to talk with the shopkeeper, pick things (the book is wonderfully illustrated), thank the shopkeep and hastily head to the next store.
Your favorite is the first store, the candy store. I know - hard to believe. The candy store is run by Ms. Floss, who is an alligator. All of the shopkeepers are animals: a cow, a bear, a gorilla, a penguin and so forth. Anyway, you really like picking out candy (about 50 pounds worth) from Ms. Floss.
So I figured I'd use the opportunity to introduce Value of Money. A van Gogh painting, for example, should seem like a lot more money to you than 3 bananas and a coconut at Mr. Rambatan's fruit stand, right? But so far, you buy 'Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers' (which last sold for about $40 Million, by the way) with the same casual zeal as $7 worth of Mr. Rambatan's fruit. And when you get to the toy store, it is like you are loading up for the winter. Value of Money indeed... When I ask you where you got the money, you coyly tell me the shopkeeper gave it to you so you could buy whatever you want - including the van Gogh. Hmmm. Keep you away from the mall, I think.
We have to get the other Inspector Rockfort book, it was under $5 and you have loved it (and going to Ms. Floss' candy store) for over a year now. And I'm really getting sick of reading it to you, deflecting the reading of it to you, and refusing to read it to you. You are relentless.
