Maya Ellen, you have had a very busy first week! After getting you home from the hospital, your Grandma Ellen came to see you and stay with us. After getting used to you for a few days, you got visits from some of our friends, then had your first Halloween, and today you took your first trip to the pediatrician. That's a doctor for little babies. It has been busy to say the least!
First off, your Grandma Ellen (Grannie L, if you want) has been here helping us, holding you, talking to you, talking about you, and generally loving you a lot. We think she likes you! She came out to see you from Chicago, because she is so excited to have a granddaughter (that's you!) she just couldn't wait to meet you. We watched hummingbirds and ate pizza, but you were really the main attraction. You are too little to go to the park or even outside for a walk, so we pretty much sat around and played with you - it was real nice.
On Sunday you had some visitors. Bart and Debbie stopped by, and they thought you were really cute as well. Both of them have a long history with us, so it was no suprise they were lining up to see you. In fact, we believe they both would have moved into the hospital with us if we'd let them. Bart was your mom and dad's friend even before they knew each other, and has been roommate, friend, and even performed our wedding ceremony! He used to live in a different country, called "Southern California". It isn't really a different country, but more like a different planet. He moved up here just before you were born, so now we don't have to get on an airplane to go see him.
Debbie and your mom went to high school together, and were friends, road trip buddies and much more. Debbie moved to San Francisco a long long time ago. Your mommy and I even came out here to visit her, years before we ended up moving out here. Debbie is a lawyer, but don't hold that against her she is real nice. She couldn't believe what a little lady you are, and had fun holding you and looking at you, which is becoming a recurring theme around here.
After that Josh and Stephanie and Peter Litwin came over to see you, and brought some homemade baked ziti. Mmmmm good! Peter is a couple months older than you, which won't mean a lot in a few years but right now, he's a lot older than you are. We tried to introduce you, but don't know if you'll remember each other later. We met Josh and Stephanie years ago on their first date, which was on Halloween no less! Peter looks a lot bigger than you, but don't worry you'll be able to beat him up if you ever need to. Peter has a gigantic brain like his mom and dad do.
Speaking of Halloween, I don't know if you'll remember your first one very well, given you were only 6 days old. We also had a 3-generation birthday party! Your Grandma Ellen's birthday is Halloween, and your Mom's birthday is this week, and your birthday was last week! A bunch of Scorpios! So we had italian food and an ice cream cake, and it was yummy. And today you went to the doctor for the first time. Not much to say there, but you had to get a shot and it hurt your mom a lot more than it hurt you!
So it has been exciting an exciting week with you, tiny, and you are just the cutest thing ever. Stay tuned for a visit from your Grandma Suzanne, and a nice weekend at home with your mommy and daddy!!
