What Kind of Two??

Terrible Two, that's what they call it. And it was just a few weeks ago that you stepped into this chronological age. Has being two changed you at all? Well, you do what you want, that's for sure. If you decide you want to wear a hat, and you decide you don't want to take off the hat you're wearing in order to do it, well then, you are just going to wear two hats.
From Terrible Two

And if you decide the cookie bucket also looks like a hat, and you want to wear it, then by golly you're going to wear it.

If you decide your broom is like a horse, and you want to ride the horse, but you need your cowboy hat in order to do that, then momma or daddy better get that cowboy hat for you right away, I don't mean in a few minutes!

Sometimes momma and daddy don't appreciate your sense of timing and humor, they can be such wet blankets sometimes. If Maya wants to play hide and seek at dinner time, well then she should be playing hide and seek!

And if daddy is feeding you and wearing his watch, and you want to be wearing his watch, guess what happens?

You guessed it... Maya ends up wearing the watch! And what might happen if you don't get the cowboy hat, or play hide and seek, or get to wear daddy's watch? Well, this is what happened at Thanksgiving when you didn't get to have another crayon (you'll notice on the table there are probably enough crayons there to draw a picture with)...

The floor is used for Maya staging her tantrums! Your tantrums are pretty funny really, since there isn't so much screaming and throwing things, more like you laying down on the floor (announcing beforehand you're going to do it) and whining quietly. But if you don't get your way, there are definitely going to be repercussions. I can tell you're going to be the type of girl who holds a grudge.

It isn't all doom and gloom at two, though. Most of the time, you are pretty darned funny. One day we had a tea party for some of your stuffed animals (including Gary the Snail), and you had your fire fighter helmet on, and how could we not crack up.

Sometimes if you don't have a hat handy, just about anything will do... Just so long as you don't have to walk around with a bare head!

Speaking of bare, sometimes you wear a hat around the house and that's about it! The twice (at least) daily "You Wanna Run Around Naked?" episodes are continuing through the weekend, and in fact show no sign of slowing down.

Overall, you are a real sweet girl and a lot of fun to be around, so don't think I'm complaining. I just wanted to point out the fact that, all of a sudden, you are acting your age. Personality is showing, is perhaps a nice way to say it. Still, we love you like crazy and you are a good little girl, and pretty darned funny most of the time even if sometimes you are a real pain in the butt.

This afternoon you were down for your nap, but not asleep, and just when I thought you were out I heard in the tiniest little voice "Maya can scream reaowwly loud" followed immediately by a scream like you were being tortured. I thought someone from the neighborhood was going to call the police! Then you laughed and laughed and laughed... I'm pretty sure you were practicing for the next time we told you 'no' out in public. Living with a two-year old is a balancing act, for sure...
