Introduction To California

More background for Baby Havener...
So your mom and I used to live in "the city"
(San Francisco that is) until we found out you were coming. That's when we hightailed it to what I'll sometimes refer to as "Silicon Valley", an exciting high-technology mecca. But really, it is the suburbs. Don't let me fool you.

It is very pleasant, don't get me wrong. It is quiet, and you can see stars at night, and you can park right in front of our place, night or day. No, really. I'm not kidding.

We used to live in a big open loft, with tall ceilings and huge windows. It was neat. It was just great for the two of us, and had an amazing view. We had great neighbors, and went to cookouts, and wore jackets every night because let me tell you, it is colder than you think in San Francisco.

But there was no room for babies, and it wasn't exactly the place we could take you out cruising around to see stuff. Even though there was plenty to see. We wanted a back yard, a garage, bedrooms with walls and doors, all most of all, grass for you to run around on. So we got the heck out of there, and moved South, to a place where we could have all these things. You have your own bedroom. In fact, here is a picture of you in it:
See? That's you and Mommy, standing in front of your chalkboards. We drew you a picture of a big tree on a nice sunny day, and there is Hip-Hop The Bunny beneath the tree. Of course you know Hip-Hop... We tell you stories about him and his country cousin, Hop-Hop. Hip-Hop is a little troublemaker, but he means well.

Your mom and I took a walk around the block tonight, and pretty much talked about you the whole time. We think you're going to be real fun, and just can't wait to meet you. But we think you should go ahead and get here. We've got all this stuff for ya, and we think you'll like your room.
