Deck the Halls

Today was Christmas Tree Day! Woo hoo! Time to get the tree, so we put you into your brand new sweats, loaded you up with 'milkshake' and got ready for the big day.

We got out of the house early, that was very important. You see, first we had to drop by Target, and this time of year you wanna get that out of the way first thing!

Then it was time for the main event. Finding this year's Christmas Tree! We went to the tree place down the road a piece, and took a look at what they had.

I think you like the way this one smells. This is kind of subtle, so for those who don't know Maya looks like she just took a big bite of skunk when she 'sniffs' something. Probably have to see this one full size to appreciate.

Momma was able to talk me out of a 26 footer, and into one that would fit in our living room and let us keep the furniture intact. So on the roof of the car it went!

We had gotten coffee at the Target Starbuck's (TargeBucks?), and you were lucky enough to score a cookie. I'm not sure, but I think you liked it ok.

Finally, time to get to work! You and I started getting the tree set up, and once again you were a big help.

And then... Time to put on some ornaments, which as it turns out you are really good at!

You were very careful to only pick out the best ornaments, and you were surprisingly good at hanging them up on the tree!

You also really liked helping me hang the lights, and you were a very good helper, and wanted to make sure they were all working, one by one. In this picture, we can clearly see the yellow light is indeed turned on. Thanks for letting us know!

Here we are about halfway through. You are sticking with it like a pro, and you haven't even started removing any of the ornaments. That would come later...

The results! We're ready for Christmas. Your Aunt Heidi has the honor of providing the first present for under the tree, which you have already declared your intent to open about 200 times.

Another living room shot, stockings and all. We're officially ready for the season!

Side note. Daddy sang 'fiiiive gooooooolden riiiiiiiiiiings!' at the Junior High Christmas Pageant once, and your Grandma Suzanne will remember it forever. In honor of that this tree is sporting the 'Five Golden Rings' ornament, here's my artsy shot of it. This one is kind of subtle too, can you find the ornament I'm talking about?

Yay! The tree is decorated, the lights are up and blinking, I think the only thing left is to take all our clothes off and have a concert in the living room! It goes without saying - you are really good at that too!

Thanks for all your help today, it was real fun picking out, setting up, and decorating the tree with you today! Now we can't wait to fill the ground around it with presents for you. Today while in the car you declared "Maya loves Santa!" so you are obviously aware that you need to suck up to him these next few weeks, and make sure he doesn't bring you a lump of coal. Today you told us you wanted some trains, especially Thomas and Henry. Huh. I wonder if Santa heard you say that? We'll see...
