Getting Into It

Well as usual, I'm neglecting you and I don't mean to, but it has been quite busy around here. I went back to work, and work was waiting for me in a big way. We're still unpacking, still figuring out what needs done, trying to do some of it. But you have hung tough the whole time, and in a lot of ways you are really enjoying yourself.

We got to town and hunkered down at Grammy and Grumpy's house, and set about trying to keep you busy while we got our house ready to move into. It was quite a week, and they placed gracious hosts and you got to play with everyone. You went to the zoo, got to see your Great Grandma Emma, and spent lots of time playing with nothing in particular while Momma and I did stuff. You also got lots of walks and outside play time. Some of your best friends were the rabbits behind Grammy's back porch, you really took to going outside to pet and feed them.

Then came The Truck. You were excited about The Truck because we kept referring to, anytime you asked about one of your things, the fact that all of our things were on the truck. So the arrival of the truck was quite an event and since then, we've been off to the races. There haven't been many pictures taken, and frankly we haven't done a lot of really fun stuff. However, we HAVE been having a whole lot of fun. You have a posse - the kids on the block (ranging from 4 to 16) are quite organized, active, and taken with you. We regularly get visitors to the house, but so far almost all of them are kids here to see you. We're getting used to the house, its idiosyncrasies and crannies and things you don't notice before you actually move in. You've been being really good, as we unpack and rebuild our food cache and learn the neighborhood.

We're getting there. In the meantime, you should know that during this wild transition, you have been a real trooper. We're dragging you around everywhere, there has been very little park time or fun time or dedicated Maya Time, and with literally everything turned upside down, you are taking it pretty well in stride.

It helps that you have the neighborhood kids (whose names you are starting to learn and use, which is far better than "HI KID!!"), who are lots of fun and good kids all. And a whole downstairs basement family room, where you are starting to understand is pretty much yours to destroy as you see fit. Anyway, so we're still going hard but starting to turn the corner into our new 'everyday life'. I hope more frequent updates will resume shortly!!
