| From We'll Miss Gr... |
Grandma Maya just loved you to pieces. She even came out to California to see you, with Grandma Suzanne, when you were just a tiny little thing.
We had a good time on that visit, you were so very brand new! Then she made sure to be in Chicago whenever we were there, so she could see her 'Little Maya' as much as possible.

It was always such a commotion when you were around, because you were so brand new, but Grandma Maya was always patient about letting others fuss around you before she got her one on one time.

She always gave you the very best presents. For Christmas last year she made this pancho just for you. In fact we had to make some discrete modifications to it because it wouldn't fit over your gigantic head. Do you remember?

The last time we were all together as a family was in September, when the whole clan assembled for Grandma Suzanne's birthday. Now THAT was a wild weekend!
This Christmas, Grandma Maya sent you, among other presents, a white stuffed monkey. You love this monkey, and you are absolutely clear about who sent it to you.
In fact, I have bunches and bunches of pictures of you with White Monkey, because you carry it around a lot.
You feed it Cheerios.
You watch TV with it.
You fight crime with it.

And you just love it to pieces.

Sometimes you even wear it to bed.
Grandma Maya felt the same way about you. And we'll miss her terribly. I'm very sad that you won't get to see her next week. You knew she was going to be there in Orlando, and I'm not looking forward to trying to explain to you why she won't be there to see you.
Grandma Maya would not want us to be all sad, though. She would prefer to see expressions like this.
And she would much rather see us being happy.
So, this is a sad post, but I want you to remember how much we loved Grandma Maya, and how much she loved you. We'll really miss her next weekend, but I'm glad you got to tell her thanks for the monkey. She was a really sweet lady, and was always so good to you. We'll miss you, Grandma, especially the one-line emails, the recipes, and seeing what rooms in the house you've rearranged since the last time we were there.
One of the last emails we'd gotten from Grandma was about how all she wanted for Christmas was a picture of you, your mom and I all together. And that was no mean feat. We tried three times to take that picture, but you weren't very cooperative. She got pictures of you in her Christmas card, but she really wanted a picture of all of us together. We were going to try again this weekend, and present it to her in Orlando next week. I hope we can still get it done, for her sake, and we'll post it here.
Goodbye, Grandma Maya, it hasn't even been a day and we all miss you terribly and love you very much.
